    The other day I put I story out on instagram talking about my wrist pain & carpal tunnel syndrome caused by lashing too much, and the funny thing is I stopped seeing clients for almost 2 years now and every now and again this pain still comes back. So I thought I put a poll out asking you how many client do you see a day and why? Most of the answers were reliving, the average lash artist has 1-4 client per day, assuming these are fills. BUT there were a good amount of people who voted on the second option which was 5-8 client a day!😱 This was the story I put out the other day 👇🏼 And this was your response 👇🏼 👉🏼 The Pitfalls of Underpricing Your Services in the Lash Industry It's a scenario that plays out far too often in the lash industry: talented artists offering their services at a fraction of what they're worth. Sure, it might seem like a "savvy business move" at first glance to undercharge your competitors in the area, but dig a little deeper, and you'll uncover a host of issues lurking beneath the surface. Plus if you think about it what if everyone would look at other and charge less than your neighbour? So what exactly is wrong with this apart from the obvious that it’s 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴? £50 full set 1 day, 5 ppl = £250 1 week, 5 days = £1250 1 month, 20 days = £5000 The example I have here demonstrates a straightforward calculation: offering a full set at £50 might seem lucrative when multiplied by the number of clients served. However, it's crucial to recognize that the real profits lie in infills, not full sets. As seasoned professionals know, cultivating long-term relationships with clients leads to repeat business and sustained income. Consider this: if you're consistently churning out full sets without retaining clients, something is amiss. Building rapport, understanding clients' needs, and delivering impeccable service are paramount to success in the beauty industry. HOW TO CHANGE THE DESIGN Now open your copy of the template and you can either use the STYLES button in the left menu to change all fonts and colours to your own brand style or you can select individual elements on the page to change them. If you go with the STYLES option CANVA will have a lot of ready colour palettes, font sets and combinations ready for you if you want to explore things and play around with different variations. Or if you select a text section on the page you can change the font, size, opacity and add different effects to the text using the top menu bar. When you click on a text to change the font CANVA will give you the option to change every text written with that font in your whole template to the new font. And the same principle applies to the colours, click on an element and when you change the colours you can automatically change every element that has the same colour. 03. HOW TO CHANGE THE DESIG How to Search for Elements in Canva using Keywords All you have to do is type any keyword that’s included in this mini guide into the ‘Elements’ search bar and you’ll instantly be presented with stunning graphics and illustrations (yes, it’s really that simple— promise!). UPLOAD YOUR OWN IMAGES You can upload your own photos, illustrations and videos from your device and use them in your designs. 1) Click Upload media. 2) Select the files that you want to upload. You can also drag them from your computer folder to the Upload tab. 3) To use your upload in your design, click on it from the side panel. 4) To find all your uploads, click Projects from the homepage side panel, select Your projects or All projects from the filter dropdown, and then click on the Uploads folder, where you can also download or delete them. Free Canva accounts can upload up to 5GB of media. Canva for Education and Canva for Nonprofits accounts can store up to 100GB of media. Canva Pro and Canva for Teams accounts have 1TB of storage. 05. HOW TO SAVE THE DESIGN How to Download or save a copy of your design to your computer or mobile device. If you used Pro or paid elements, you’ll be asked to pay for them before downloading. You can also download a watermarked draft to preview your design before paying. 1) On the editor menu bar, click Share ( top right corner ) 2) Click Download. 3) On the dropdown, choose a file type for your download ( more about the supported download file types on the next page ) 4) If your design has multiple pages, select the pages you want to download from the dropdown and click Done. Your design will be saved to your device’s assigned download folder. 06. FILE GUIDE Download your designs in the file format that best serves their intended use: Designs downloaded as PPTX files may look different when opened in Microsoft Powerpoint. You may need to make edits, or download and install the fonts you used in Canva to your device. If your download looks blurry or pixelated – but it looks clear in the editor – there are some common factors that might be the cause, such as the file type or the quality of the images used. CHECK THE QUALITY OF ANY UPLOADED IMAGES If you’ve uploaded images into Canva and used them in your design, check if they’re high resolution. Using low-quality images can result in blurry or pixelated designs. Where possible, upload only high-quality photos in 300 DPI. CHECK THE FILE TYPE CHOSEN DURING DOWNLOAD A downloaded design’s quality is affected by the file format that you chose. JPG is useful for saving images at small file sizes. It’s usually chosen for Web use but also produces the lowest resolution designs. PNG is ideal for saving line drawings, text, and icons at small file sizes. It’s also a common choice for Web uploads. PDF Standard is ideal for viewing multi-page, text-heavy documents. PDF Print is the only file format which saves professional print quality at 300 DPI. When working with glue, it is vitally important to know how long it will take for our fans to adhere. The problem with this is that, even though the packaging says a defined time, there are several factors that can alter the drying time and that will make a type of glue be better (or worse) depending on the occasion. For this reason, I want to review with you some of the factors that affect the drying time of your glue, and the best way to optimize them. What alters the drying time of extension glues? lash extension glue drying time ▸ Humidity and temperature lash extension glue drying time As you may already know, each adhesive usually has instructions on its optimal temperature (which is usually between 19 ° C to 23 ° C) and the ideal degree of humidity (between 45% and 75%). These specifications may vary by product. However, a common mistake many lash makers make is thinking the humidity levels refer to external humidity. The humidity that affects the drying time of your glue is called relative humidity (the humidity of the work area), and it is measured with a hygrometer. The viscosity of the adhesive affects, as you may have imagined, the speed of curing the adhesive. Therefore, when we spray water after the application to cure the glue, we’re allowing moisture molecules to penetrate it. Putting it in simpler terms: a more consistent or thicker glue will take longer to dry and will require more moisture (making it ideal for humid climates), while a thinner one will dry faster and won’t need much moisture. Higher humidity = More viscous glue. Lower humidity = Thinner glue. ▸ Your client’s individual lash type Surely you have already noticed, but each client is a completely different case. The porosity of the eyelash (i.e. the number of holes in a strand of hair) is different for each person thanks to genetic, health, and environmental factors, changing the way the adhesive is absorbed by the eyelash. lash extension glue drying time Although it’s difficult to notice this with a quick glance, you can vary the type of glue you’re using if you notice that your fans are not adhering. Thus, by simply testing with different glue viscosities, you’ll be able to work with all kinds of clients. In general terms: a thinner lash will require a thinner glue (since it won’t be able to support so much weight), and a thicker one with a more viscous one. ▸ Chemicals present in the environment Believe it or not, the cleaning products you use in your living room MAY affect the performance of your glue. Generally speaking, this is due to acidity / alkalinity levels (or the pH scale). Don’t panic! I’m not going to give you a chemistry class. To sum it up in simple terms: the adhesive’s common active ingredient, cyanoacrylate, can react differently to the presence of certain chemicals, depending on whether they are acidic or alkaline. In the presence of alkaline products (such as laundry detergents, all-purpose cleaners, bleach, or baking soda) our glue will cure faster. The opposite case happens in the case of acidic products (such as those used to unclog pipes or remove hard water stains), the curing process may become slower or not even occur. If you’ve problems working, no matter what you do, perhaps the chemical molecules in the air are hindering your work. Therefore, try to ventilate the space to remove them after each time you clean cleaning, or change the products you’re using instead. ▸ Useful life of extension glue An average spread adhesive typically lasts from one to two months in an already-open glue bottle, and six if it’s still hermetically sealed. If the manufacturing date of your glue is more than six months, it means that it won’t have the same effectiveness as a new product (because the active component, cyanoacrylate, doesn’t require contact with air to be active). Once it is open, however, its optimum drying point only last 4 – 5 weeks.
