  • Health vs lash money 🫠

The other day I put I story out on instagram talking about my wrist pain & carpal tunnel syndrome caused by lashing too much, and the funny thing is I stopped seeing clients for almost 2 years now and every now and again this pain still comes back. So I thought I put a poll out asking you how many client do you see a day and why? Most of the answers were reliving, the average lash artist has 1-4 client per day, assuming these are fills. BUT there were a good amount of people who voted on the second option which was 5-8 client a day!😱 This was the story I put out the other day 👇🏼 And this was your response 👇🏼 👉🏼 The Pitfalls of Underpricing Your Services in the Lash Industry It's a scenario that plays out far too often in the lash industry: talented artists offering their services at a fraction of what they're worth. Sure, it might seem like a "savvy business move" at first glance to undercharge your competitors in the area, but dig a little deeper, and you'll uncover a host of issues lurking beneath the surface. Plus if you think about it what if everyone would look at other and charge less than your neighbour? Eventually you will end up working for less than minimum wage..Let's talk about this common problem and see why it's essential to break free from the cycle of underpricing. 👉🏼 Understanding the Math: Why Full Sets Aren't the Cash Cow You Think Unfortunately I see this example waaaay to often and it's finally time to say something. So what exactly is wrong with this apart from the obvious that it’s 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴? £50 full set 1 day, 5 ppl = £250 1 week, 5 days = £1250 1 month, 20 days = £5000 The example I have here demonstrates a straightforward calculation: offering a full set at £50 might seem lucrative when multiplied by the number of clients served. However, it's crucial to recognize that the real profits lie in infills, not full sets. As seasoned professionals know, cultivating long-term relationships with clients leads to repeat business and sustained income. Consider this: if you're consistently churning out full sets without retaining clients, something is amiss. Building rapport, understanding clients' needs, and delivering impeccable service are paramount to success in the beauty industry. Without these elements, you'll find yourself trapped in a cycle of constantly chasing new clients—a recipe for burnout and business failure. 👉🏼 The Price of Mediocrity: Why Undercharging Undermines Your Craft At £50 for a full set, you're not just undervaluing your services; you're undercutting the entire industry. It's essential to recognize the value of your skills and invest in your craft accordingly. Whether it's through advanced training, high-quality products, or top-notch customer service, your pricing should reflect the expertise and dedication you bring to the table. Moreover, perpetuating the myth that "people in my area can't afford higher prices" is a disservice to yourself and your potential clients. The truth is, there's a market for quality wherever you go. By positioning yourself as a premium service provider and demonstrating the value you offer, you'll attract clients willing to pay what you're worth. 👉🏼 The Toll of Overwork: How Underpricing Leads to Burnout Finally, let's address the elephant in the room: the unsustainable workload that comes with underpricing. In the example provided, the math might seem straightforward—five clients a day, two hours per client—but the reality is far more taxing. Factor in time for breaks, cleaning, administrative tasks, and self-care, and suddenly, those long days stretch even further. Without proper compensation for your time and expertise, you'll find yourself trapped in a relentless cycle of overwork and underpayment. This not only jeopardizes the quality of your work but also takes a toll on your mental and physical well-being. In the end, it's a lose-lose situation for both you and your clients. 👉🏼 Charge Your Worth: The Path to Sustainable Success In conclusion, it's time to break free from the allure of underpricing and embrace the value you bring to the table. By charging what you're worth, fostering meaningful connections with clients, and prioritizing self-care, you'll pave the way for long-term success in the lash industry. Remember, you're not just an artist—you're a business owner, a trendsetter, and a purveyor of beauty and confidence. It's time to step into your power and demand the respect and compensation you deserve. some thoughts about this topic 👇🏼 We want everyone in this industry to make money so let's raise the bar, let's learn from people who are already done it and they have achieved what you want. • “ Charging deposit upfront is unnecessary “

Taking a deposit upfront before an appointment as a lash artist is a common practice and is often recommended for several reasons: 1)Commitment: By taking a deposit, you ensure that the client is committed to the appointment. It acts as a form of assurance that they value your time and the service you provide. Without a deposit, there is a higher likelihood of last-minute cancellations or no-shows, which can be frustrating and result in lost income for you as a lash artist. 2)Time Management: As a lash artist, you typically have a limited number of slots available each day. By taking a deposit, you can better manage your schedule and allocate time slots to clients who are genuinely interested and willing to show up for their appointment. This helps you avoid gaps in your schedule and allows you to optimize your time and income. 3) Professionalism and Boundaries: Requesting a deposit upfront sets a professional tone and demonstrates that you take your business seriously. It establishes clear boundaries and expectations between you and the client. By requiring a deposit, you show that your time and skills are valuable, and you are running a professional service. 4) Protection Against Loss: If a client cancels without a reasonable notice period, you may lose potential income by not being able to fill that appointment slot on short notice. The deposit acts as a form of compensation for that loss, providing some financial security. It's important to establish clear deposit policies and communicate them to your clients beforehand. This helps ensure transparency and avoid any misunderstandings. Additionally, you should have a refund policy that outlines the conditions under which a deposit is refundable or non-refundable, depending on factors such as the cancellation notice period or any exceptional circumstances. When informing your clients about your deposit policy, it's essential to communicate it clearly and professionally. Here's a suggested approach: Include the policy on your website or social media platforms: Ensure that your deposit policy is prominently displayed on your website or social media pages where clients can easily find it. This way, they are aware of the policy before even contacting you. Mention the policy during initial inquiries: When clients contact you to inquire about your lash services, take the opportunity to mention your deposit policy. You can briefly explain that you require a deposit to secure their appointment and ensure commitment. Provide detailed information in your booking confirmation: Once the client has agreed to book an appointment, send them a confirmation email or message. Within this communication, outline your deposit policy clearly. Include details such as the deposit amount, how it should be paid (e.g., online transfer, PayPal, etc.), and the deadline for submitting the deposit. State the consequences of cancellation or no-shows: Emphasize the importance of the deposit by explaining the consequences of canceling without proper notice or not showing up for the appointment. Clearly communicate your refund policy and any conditions under which the deposit may or may not be refunded. Use clear and polite language: Ensure that your communication is professional, polite, and respectful. Avoid sounding accusatory or confrontational when discussing the deposit policy. Frame it as a standard practice in your business that helps maintain a reliable schedule and provide the best service to clients. Be available to answer questions: Make yourself available to answer any questions or concerns your clients may have about the deposit policy. Addressing their inquiries promptly and courteously helps build trust and confidence in your business. Remember, effective communication is key to establishing clear expectations and minimizing any misunderstandings. By clearly explaining your deposit policy, you can create a transparent and professional relationship with your clients. Hope this post was helpful 🤍
